I have traded for a .36 cal in very nice shape it has a brass frame with a top strap im have fired it with fifteen grains and the ball sits way down in the cylinder is this a very light load for this gun or is this the way it should be seems like a long ways to the cone :hmm:

I don't have .36 (yet) but seems that is a very light charge for one. go up in 5 gr. increments to say 25 and see how it does.

I've used a brass-framed .36 Colt-style revolver for over 20 years now. I use 17 grains 3f, a lubed felt wad and a .378 lead ball. Yes, I could load it hotter but the 17 grain load shoots better than I can. And I fully expect, with the reduced load in a brass frame, that the pistol will outlast me. Have fun.

I USE 18 GR. OF POWDER, THEN ROUND BAII, THEN A GREESE BATCH,OF CRISCO. I'll shoot thirty rounds in a match witout any binding. It'll knock down a knock down target.

Yes, 15 grains is a light load in .36 caliber in a Remington or other full size top strap design. Good place to start loading.

You might get more accuracy with cream of wheat filler on top of your powder so the balls/bullets are closer to the barrel's forcing cone.

I have a set of scoops made of cartridge cases in various calibers that work well for pouring filler at the range. Keep the filler in a margarine tub and you can scoop it into the chambers qickly.

In many of the older cap & ball revolvers the chambers are undersized in relation to the bore diameter. It is good to check this.

The lighter loads are usually the most accurate.

Experiment and you will find what your revolver likes.

would cream of wheat dispence out of a powder flask?one for powder one for cream of wheat?

Is that Cream of Wheat shot from guns?

OH, now I remember, it's Puffed Wheat that's shot from guns.

Corn meal will also work as a filler. :)

2 36 cal 58 remmys 10 grains 3f, grits eye ball if to mutch a little hot air removes some 375 ball bee's wax olive oil lube on top. shots per lb alot. I use a brass cylinder flask for the grits. Also no cap problems with no 10 remington caps, extra push with a flat horn.
