I'm out of 50g pellets is there a problem with using four 30g pellets of triple7 or should I go back to 2. 50 g pellets

Forget about the pellets.

You will be far better off by buying a volumetric powder measure of up to 120 grains, a horn or flask (the Treso flask with built in valve and measure), and a can of triple 7. Your accuracy will improve because you can adjust the load for optimum performance. The powder charge will be easier to ignite. Your cost per shot will be less.

By the way your best performance will be found using real black powder.

Ditto- ditch the pellets and measure your charges for the very reasons Grenadier listed.

and yeah, best performance is with actual black powder, a good grade like Swiss or Old Eynsford.

Hodgdon says no.
For pyrodex pellets,
Unless your gun is an inline, 45 cal and you stay under 100 grains, that's 3 pellets not 4.

(do not use 45 cal pellets in a 50 cal)

For the 50 cal/30 grain 777 pellets you must also stay under 100 grains total.

Cap and Ball revolvers just entered the modern age! No flask or spout, no loose powder mess; loading has never been cleaner or easier. These 30 grain volume Pellets are intended for use in 44 or 45 caliber cap and ball revolvers. Packed 100 pellets to the jar. May be used in 45 caliber in-line muzzleloading rifles in conjunction with 50 grain pellets in combinations not exceeding 100 grains.

The 50/30 Pellets are designed for use in conjunction with 50/50 Pellets to tailor loads specific to a given rifle. The 50/30 Pellets may be used in any combination with 50/50 or other 50/30 Pellets in charges up to a maximum of 100 grains. Packed 100 Pellets to the box or 24 Pellets to the card. Easy clean-up, just like Triple Seven granular powder. Designed for use with 209 shotshell primers only.

Also If you are using an inline modern muzzleloader, the advice above about using loose powder can cause a problem in some inline guns.
The flash hole is so big on those guns that loose powder can flow through the hole into the primer chamber resulting in extreme blow-back or a breech explosion.

If your gun is a modern muzleloader you will want to go to this forum for advice.
