40 cal perc. with N V Smith barrel, info wanted

Hello, I recently bought an old custom 40 cal percussion with N V Smith St Louis, Mo 1968 on the barrel. The lock looks to be very old with the name Josh Golcher on it.
Any information about the barrel, lock, and loads would be appreciated. It has peep rear and globe aperature front sight. Thanks.
