I have the same problem, I have no idea why so many of the new gun articles in the gun rags start with "30-30 enough gun?" or "scoped or irons, which is better?" Perhaps it is because some folks have not been here for decades and would like a little insight without having to weed through several dozen searched posts that in most cases get hacked or sent off in a different direction...................but maybe not.......
You raise a good point about some of the threads you find in a search going off in a different direction, and all too often topics do, but, that's where discovery get made. I recently learned something from a newly posted topic that lead me to something I missed in an old one.
And you touched on one of my pet peeve, or at least "I'm tired of ," topics,,,,, "is _____ enough for deer?" I get it of you are going for something new, huge/dangerous and thus unusual......
Anyway........

We are certainly on the same page. I do not know how many hundreds of times that I was looking for a specific piece of information and two posts into the discussion someone says something like" I shot a great group with that load off the hood of my Dodge Ram" next post is You have a Ram Too? I had one but the service sucks" next is a "you think that's bad? I had a Jeep that............)

As I recall Larry Pletcher measured ignition speeds. Time differences are milliseconds. Less than lock time difference between an 03A3 and new benchrest railgun. 4F faster than 2F no question but I wouldn't want to bet real money on being able to tell 4F from 3F prime. Dealing with the inherent delay of a centuries old technology.. is fun and kind of like musical chairs (if the delay is really bad you might be able to flinch AND have time to get back on target before the dang thing goes off).

If REALLY needs 4f but only has 3f or 2f there is no need to buy anything; Just put a little 3f or 2f in an empty can/bottle (preferably an empty Powder can/bottle), drop in two or three round balls, swirl it around and up and down a bit and in a couple minutes you have 4f - well, close enough for government work anyway
