Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
A few posts down, one of our members killed a big bull elk with a .50 round ball. I wouldn't do it myself, but if you are confident in your abilities, it can be done. Bill
White tailed deer, I prefir .58 for deer even. Why? Because my .58 leaves a nice exit hole when a deer is hit close to broad side, leaving a blood trail a blind man can follow. A .50 will do just fine, but often will not leave much of a blood trail. Adding the difficulty to recovering the animal. Sometimes the smaller calibers like .45 and .50 will kill like thunderbolts. But some times I have had deer that took grid searches to find with several helpers to find due to non existant blood trails. I'll stick to my .58.
