.54 Barrel boring

Thinking of making my rife lighter. Its a .54 with 1" flats. So it can be bored to a .58, correct?

If your dove tails and sight screws are not to deep.

I would just cut down the barrel if you want lite. It's not like you are going to shoot over 100 yards.

That's something else to consider, but really just wanted to confirm that its possible for it to be bored to .58 or so.
