I just finished the winter project on the renegade 54 cal with the custom barrel from t/c 1 in 66 round ball barrel twist
I have to go with fiber optic only because the eyes are not what they used to be.I just may take some rubbing coupound to cut the finish a little .I used about 20 coats of Formby's tung oil LOW GLOSS http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a380/lonewolf5347/54 renegade/100_0060.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a380/lonewolf5347/54 renegade/100_0059.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a380/lonewolf5347/54 renegade/100_0057.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a380/lonewolf5347/54 renegade/100_0054.jpg

the barrel from t/c custom shop 1" no QLA
but did purchase it from a private party I think get well over 200.00 for the barrel or even a tad more not sure.
I also pick up a second hand renegade stock and was lucky to land a lock that needed repair parts.

I think next week after the cold weather moves on
I try Hornady R/B 530 with a .017 blue and white pillow material also using 3F goex.
I may try it with a wad or just a plain patch

One "wolf" to another - very nice work! Over the years, I have seen many hunters far off by the glint of their guns as they slip around or move.

I have grown disatisfied with a glossy finish. I have come to prefer visiting the deer woods with a more satin or flatter finish on the wood and a matte, even "parkerized" finished on the barrel. Sun doesn't glare near as much.

Nice job, she looks great!

Real nice job on that gun. I'm a real fan of Formby's. I've been using Jim Chambers oil lately but I've used a ton of Formby's over the years as a carpenter and never had any trouble with it.

Hello from Germany!

Real nice work! Well done!

I was able to buy a .54 T/C Hawken perc. at the classified ads and will get a .50 T/C Hawken flinter kit, too from the same person. That will be my first kit and I'm looking forward to it.

Regards

Kirrmeister
