I agree with you, but I don't know of a gunshop around here that would have those rifles to compare. The closest one to me which is Jays Sporting Goods in Clare, MI, has only 4 traditional rifles, all made by Traditions. Does anyone know of a place in central Michigan that carries Lyman. If you do, please let me know. Thanks!
 
When I was looking for a non-factory flinter I already had a factory made .50. I was looking for certain criteria..., simplicity, swamped barrel, cost that I could afford, and etc. I decided that I would be happy with either a .50 or a .54...and IF it was found in a .45 I'd have to think about it, but I'd probably be fine with that too...what I found and bought was a .54. I've been very happy with it ever since.
