I have been looking for a .550 RB mold and cannot find one. I checked Lee and Lyman and there are not listed by either company.

Any ideas besides buying balls already made?

Thanks

RDE

You can get a mould from Jeff Tanner shipped to you for $35. He is listed in the member resources.

I had an excellent single cavity mold made by Jeff Tanner.

Uses standard handles. He will make any size you want.

Here's his e-mail [email protected]
I think it was $35 including shipping. Mail a check to San Diego... you get the mold before you check arrives.
:hmm:

gotta go with the rest of the guys tanners molds are great! do yerself a favor..order the sprue cutter with it..it's a seperate tool but it's like $5...handles that work are lee 90005.. they're like $18 then you be all set! mold away! RC

Just curious, why a .55?

I understand that Jeff also makes an occasional 6 cavity gang mould. Don't know what handles work on them or if they come with a built in sprue cutter but if you find out, let us know.
..

I assume he has a T/C .56 smoothbore that takes the .550 rd ball. Tanner moulds do not come with a sprue cutter. You can buy one from him, i just used a set of wire cutters. And they will take most any handles. I used both Lyman and Lee handles.

I ask because my smoothie is a 24 bore.
I use a .570 ball between 2 felt wads, no patch.
Thought a .55 might work with a loobed patch.

I know Jeffs single cavity moulds are sprue-cutter-les. Was not sure about multi cavity ones.

I just got my Jeff Tanner mold in .520 and it is the best value out there! I had the mold five days after I sent him the email. I also have his .600 mold. I have to make some larger spru cutters because his are a little too small for my hands.
