I'm unable to find wads or cards to this specific bore size. The bore mics .561 and if I use an arch punch the sizes available are 9/16 or 5/8, .5625 versus .6250. Since I've never loaded shot for a smoothbore I don't know where to start.Do the wad & card fit line to line? Whats to lose and to tight when we're trying to seal gases?

The barrel is on a Renegade, 27" and I would like to get nice patterns for rabbits and squirrels out to 25-30 yds., if posssible, using no.6's.

The ram rod doesn't have a button on it either and I can't locate one of those. Will a .54-.58 jag be a good subsitute?

Boy! I'm just a wreck waitin' to happen...

While you're sorting all that out, .58cal Oxyoke prelubed wonderwads work perfectly in the TC .56cal S/B.....and just use the normal .54cal jag

That was easy enough...

Hey Bill!

Got a .62 flint smoothbore and lock yesterday for this Renegade stock. No shortage of load information for it! Glad everyone put in the efforts to record and post the result they had.
I won't have to pester ya'll with it :applause:

Is that the GM barrel from GM via Cains?...GM must be about out...they had made a special run of 48 .62cal Flint smoothbore barrels about 3 years ago and Cains said there were only 9 left last year...I got two, a couple other members each got one, you got one, etc...excellent barrels.

Once I started shooting a .62cal flinter, the .56cal caplock just gathered dust and I sold it a year or so later...after shooting that big 33" .62cal, the little 27" .56cal seemed like a toy.

Enjoy !

The best load I've found yet for mine is; 50grains 2F/ 2x 24 gauge cards/ 7/8oz shot in a post-it shot cup/ 1x 24 gauge card.

Works great on squirrels. There may be a better load yet to find...
I tried the fiber wads, both whole and 1/2s. Got much better patterns with just cards. Also tried 28 gauge cards/wads. They were too loose and would let the shot run out if I tipped the muzzle down. YMMV

I got a .62 smooth barrel too, but mine is a capper. Haven't yet tried it out.

I've been using 9/16" cards with no trouble. I'm using automotive gasket material for over powder and orange juice carton for over shot. Loading 2 drams (55 grains) of FFg and 3/4 oz (the same volume of shot), add shot to the load before adding powder. :v
