.58 Cal. M1841 Mississippi Muzzle Loading Rifle made by Replica Arms of Ridgefield N.J. ..

Caliber : 58
Barrel Length : 33" Tapered round – 1.100 at breech to .875 at muzzle.
Twist Rate : 1 in 72" , Broach rifled .004" deep , 3 lands - .580 & 3 grooves - .586…
Barrel Finish : Browned , Barrel marked VP with eagle head and proof marks.
Bore : Is bright and shiny with very strong rifling.
Sights : open style -- Fixed "V" Notched rear sight , small brass blade front sight
Overall Length : 48.625"
Breech : Bolster is NOT Marked with a W.
Weight : 10 lb.
Full Stock : American walnut , satin finish wood with 2 Brass barrel bands (double strap front cap), brass patch box , trigger guard and butt plate. Case hardened lock and hammer ,
Nicely engraved with the Eagle stamp and “US” in front of the hammer.
Original style blue steel sling swivels are attached to the forearm cap and trigger guard.
Ignition Type : Percussion , musket size caps..
Brass Tipped Steel ramrod with threaded end for a patch worm.
Brass has a nice patina !!

Made by V. Bernadelli in 1978 for Replica Arms which was subsequently bought by Navy Arms.

With 2 new nipples and a patch worm.

This rifle is in near new condition. Does not appear to have been fire!!!
Browning on the gun is superb condition with a couple of marks from handling/display. See white highlight picture. Wood is also in excellent condition, showing minimal ware. Bore is guaranteed excellent condition. Gun has not been modified in any way. Great piece for re-enactment or shooting/hunting. Very nice rifle.
Recommended load 60 grains of FFG, .570" round ball, .040" patch (or) .575" minnie ball.

It was considered the best looking ordnance rifle of the period. The US 1841 was manufactured at Harpers Ferry from the 1846 to the 1855 originally in .54 caliber, though many were later modified to .58. It was the first US military weapon made with a percussion lock and no provision for a bayonet. The US 1841 was used by both sides in the US Civil War.

Those are great rifles, and that is a sweet price. Had I not bought one a few months ago (for more money) I would be all over it.

I use mine for Mexican War impressions and for rendezvous events. The guys in the North-South Skirmish Association usually shoot them as well, so you could consider posting it on their forum. (I used to shoot in the NSSA and used a Bernandelli.)
