just bought a 58 cal with rice square bottom grove barrel, why is it that lee does not make a .570 mold for that cal?

Same reason why they don't make the .590" mould I want. :idunno:
Have to ask Lee. Probably they don't see a big enough market to mess with it.
 
At one time, Lyman made a steel bullet mold for a .570 diameter ball. It's # 2645570.

They also made a steel bullet mold for a .600 diameter ball. It's # 2645600.

IMO the only problem with these molds is finding them and the cost. If you don't have handles for them you also have to buy some.
 
I saw that mold but thought it would be to tight and would need a thin patch.
 
The Lee mold .575 ball shoots pretty well in my Green Mountain barreled TC Hawken with a .018 pillow tick patch. It takes a pretty good whack on the short starter to start the ball, but goes down fine after the start.

Whacking the short starter by hand is no problem for a few loads when hunting. But shooting a bunch of shots on the range calls for a mallet or I would end up with a pretty sore hand.

His stuff is beautiful. His turn around is fast. He made me a 0.990" and it works perfectly.
