It sure is. Ended up being a much nicer piece of wood than I expected. I just finished it with plain old linseed oil. Figured it was plenty authentic that way and would pick up color on its own.
I just used oil as well glad I did.
Thinking 90 grs ffg goex is going to be the ticket. Bottom 3 shots was 80 grs with prb at 50 yards and top 3 we're 90 grs everything else the same. If I remember right it's a .015 ticking with .562 ball and 50/50 beeswax/olive oil with the patch basically just pressed against the lube firmly. The circle is 2 inches.
Around 8.5-9 pounds according to my scale which could certainly be wrong lol I do believe the weights are listed on the kibler site.
Thanks I did see some weights there but wondered if those were for the other Colonial calibers and that the smoothbore might be a little lighter
If the weight is different I doubt it would be noticeable at all. May even be a smidge heavier if the bore is land diameter and not groove diameter. Pretty sure the.58 is listed at 9 pounds even. My dad was very surprised how light it was. Haven't had the opportunity to put any shot through it yet since I was mostly worried about our gun season at the end of the month. Shot is also a bit expensive and I just haven't felt it was that Important.
What kind of steel? Pretty sure mine would consistently ring a 6" plate at 75..... I haven't shot it that far yet but I can't see it opening up too much since it will do 2.5" groups at 50 and I haven't really really done any load development..... I'm on my first patch material first lube and second powder charge. Gun season is close here and I didn't want to go wild yet just be ready.
The same for me 6 inch steel plates. The range I shoot at has 12,10,8,6, and 4 hanging at 50. Then there is a turkey at 75. There are some at 100 also that are 12 inch along with a Buffalo.
