I have a CVA Mountain rifle in .58, I believe it's a maple stock, pretty rare gun, shoots well. Just over your budget + shipping.

Thank you. I have a .50 CVA that I bought off the forum, and am now really good at replacing springs, heating and reshaping hammers, rebluing, and slicking locks! I may consider it, but I am hoping to step up to an Italian gun, or even a semi trashed custom that needs rebored and/or refinished.

You indicated that you were shooting at 100 -150 yard distances with a PRB. I think if that's the case, you would want a longer barrel then the 26" barrel that comes with a Renegade to get good accuracy at those distances. The T/C Hawken barrel in .54 comes to about 29", and while that better than 26" it might make sense to find or hold out for one a bit longer. GM has a 36" .58 caliber barrel blanks in the $210 ball park. You could probably source the parts necessary and finish it to be a drop-in for a TC Renegade with your budget.
GM does not produce drop in barrels any more. Mountainman musket co on FB does, I think they are 450 or more.

You're right, they dont. Which is a shame, as those drop in barrels are the bee's knees for a TC. But according to their website they are producing a 1" flat 36" long 58 caliber blank for about $210.00 dollars. One would have to source the under rib, thimbles, hook breach, ect, etc. to make there own "drop in" barrel.

It might be on here and I missed it. Are you looking for a flintlock or a percussion?
Regards
