In a full octagon barrel or a shotgun style barrel?

IMO, the full octagon barrel (like a rifle has) can take heavier powder loads.

You ought to be able to find something that works between 80 and 120 grains of 2Fg or even 3Fg.

With a .570 diameter roundball and a 120 grain powder load you will have about 400 grains of stuff coming out of the bore when you touch it off.

That should get somethings attention.

I use .563" dia ball, .018" pillow ticking patch & 67 gr 3F. Barrel is 48" long Oct/Rnd. It does OK.

70 grains 2F Goex
half of a fiber wad lubed with neat's-foot oil
.575 RB (sprue up)
other half of fiber wad
ram it all down
prime pan with 4f
shoot
