Well I went a little crazy and in a two week time period two Thompson big boars presented themselves one in near mint shape only fired 7 rounds and one that definitely had been used. I oiled up the nice one and set it in the safe while starting work on the shooter. It has minor pitting towards the end of the muzzle and had a broken stock. Within recent weeks I added peep, Davis Deerslayer Trigger all put into a Renegade stock I picked up. I've shot conicals and Prb outta it threw the crony and both group great

Ya buddy- I really like my .58 Big Bore and acquired an additional stock and Peep for it to do the same… plus a long range barrel. My peep is the Tc flip up tang site, As that will help with it’s trajectory. I like the 445gr Lee REAL Bullet. Double triggers and Peep certainly help the .58

I've made about 90 of the lee reals for it shot a handful and they do well I've put 615g conicals threw the chronograph
440 Lee reals
And prb threw it

I took a few shots with .562 ball and .020 patchz- Not good. So I went to a .570 and .018 and was doing well enough with the open sites.

Yet the Lee 445gr was shooting nicely- even with 75gr of 2f- Thumps the shoulder a little. After 10 shots…. I prefer the PRB.

I have a .562 mold and a .575 mold haven't tried the .562 yet and couldn't even come close with getting a .575 in with a .15 patch. I ordered some .10 so we will see if they will fit. It shoots lights out with.570

Not good-4” at 50 yards

On a Side note, Why was a .58 Big bore with double triggers not a common production model, for that matter… a Flintlock version!

Regardless, The Single trigger original .58 Big Bore Is great. Nothing wrong with it, I just consider it a short range gun with open sites.

I can squeeze the Lee Real 445gr at 8Bhn into 2.5” at 50 yards with open sights. Yet that’s of a tailgate.

I need to get to a nice bench range and dial in a PrB

I'm sure one could make one a flint if you were able to get the breech plug off, screw on a 54 flint breech

I’d just bore out a Tc Flintlock to .58 instead of ruining a Tc Big Bore .58

Not all that many floating around.
Thatswhat i deid. Took a sewer pipe .50 caliber flint lock barrel and had Bobby Hoyt bore it out to .58 with a 1/72" twist with round bottom rifling. With 85 grains of 3f it will shoot out the center of a 2" bull at 50 yards.
