I ran into some Minie balls and some other conicals and they measured .589 using the calipers that were there.
Kind of large for an 1861, aren't they? Mine shoots .575 if I recall.

What gun might that have been used in?

There were balls and about 100 tubes with premeasured charges in them. A bunch of misc stuff.

Sounds like you got some stuff owned by a N-SSA member. We cast minutes to fit a certain bore size since muskets are almost never what the manufacturer says.

I didn't know they could vary by that much. Not oversize.
