Have for sale this english sporting rifle/trade rifle It has a Chambers Fowler lock , a 62 cal. rifled Colerain 40" Griffin barrel, and steel/iron hardware. Walnut stock.. this is a real lightweight gun! barrel is only 3.6 lbs. Its unfired, I built it this winter. I'm asking less than parts alone..$850. "winters are long this high"

Were you able to weigh the gun itself to find out what it weighs? If so would you pm it to me?

couple more pic's. This has a hooked breech.. and yes its wedges not pins that hold the barrel.

HELLO, I HAVENT OWNED A FLINT IN 30 YEARS BUT GETTING THE URGE TO HUNT WITH ONE,,,,LOOKING AT THE STOCK DO YOU THINK THE PATCH BOX WILL INTERFER WITH ME BEING LEFT HANDED....

Depends on how much cast-off it has. You will never notice the patchbox. I am LH and I shoot rifles of both sides. Depending on the shape of the comb, the cast-off can put the edge of the comb into your cheekbone and make it hard to get behind the sights. A straight stock can be shot comfortably from either side.

in having a wooden patch box it would be much more gentile on the cheek than a brass one. !

I have several RH rifles with brass patchboxes, and they are no more noticeable to shoot LH than a wooden one. The only thing to watch for is the edge of the lid snagging your jacket. The lid is facing into the shoulder and will sometimes snag on clothing. A pushbutton opening lid won't be a problem. A snap shut type lid can catch and open.
