ive got an armi sport 69 cal rifled musket thats currently a paper weight as it cant hit the broad side of a barn from inside of it. the bore is something like .694 and the rifling is almost nonexistant.

so i figured id try and contact Mr. Hoyt and see if he can put a rifled liner in to make the gun shootable. my question is what is the correct bore diameter for these guns to use the lyman 69 cal minie mold?

thank you

.687 is the norm and that's what Bob tries to maintain. He'e done three for me, two rifled and one smooth and they're all .687. Try to find a Rapine mould for a 500 gr. .685 semi wadcutter minie. Much less recoil. You also might try contacting Moose Moulds and ask them if and when they're coming out with one. They cater to skirmishers, and rifled '42s are not popular with them so Moose may not want to produce one.

Good luck,

Duane

goodcheer i tried to have a 69 cal mini mold sized up to fit the gun. it didnt end up working very well. the gun shot 12-16" to the left and the groups were around 8-10" wide. the rifling in the gun ranges .003 to smooth bore depending on where in the barrel your looking.

sizing the bore to the correct diameter and with proper rifling could make this gun a decent shooter.

its been too long since i bought it and ive shot it so i really doubt they would take it back. i didnt realise just how bad the barrel was till it was really too late. now i simply warn people against armi-sport firearms.

i can onley tell at the muzzle where its got a bare spot. from what i can tell of the rifling its very sporatic with some spots being shallow while others are deeper. the barrel was just bored very poorly with either dull or out of spec tooling.

im sending mr. hoyt a letter via snail mail as calling him has not worked. hopefully ill hear back from him some time in the future.
