I was thinking about making a new one. I could also make a part that goes behind the trigger guard that will support the spring, like some of the fancy under hammers.
 
Norman that is funny, I was just looking at them yesterday to see how the were attached.

On the larger bores, they need some 'slope' up to the trigger guard. Heavy recoil will smash the trigger guard into the third finger. It hurts.

I have taped on some simple wedge designs to try. haven't found one that I like yet.

I am looking forward to seeing this completed. That’s very nice machine work. I’ve always thought that underhammer guns were beautiful because of how simple and efficient they are.
 
The mold drops a .686-.688 diameter.

A little big, but I have the .675 to make tapered cartridges with for the second shot, if ever needed. [scrap, reclaimed harder lead]
