.....since I was crowing about my 95 dollar left-handed Renegade a few weeks ago, so this might seem a little over the top.
Won a left-handed New Englander on Gunbroker for 87 bucks! The condition is fair, wood needs stripped and refinished plus some dents steamed out, but it has nice figure.
Metal needs about the same, stripped with Evaporust and refinished. Not sure about the bore condition (it is a .50), but I intend to re-use the breech plug with a modern shotgun barrel to make a percussion shotgun. I have 32" stainless steel 12ga barrel that should work out about perfectly once it is shortened at the breech a bit.
Even though I have a few nice flint fowlers (one by Steve Hughes and a couple by Ron Scott) I have always had a soft spot for these little T-C's. Unfortunately, left handed New Englanders always seem to sell high and smoothbore New Englanders go higher yet, whether RH or LH. So a simple project like this seems fun, economical, and, well, worth crowing about one more time!
