We had an unusually warm day and I took advantage of it to shoot my new rifle. Took my 7yr old with me to have some father/son time. He loved the idea of being with me instead of school!

Anyway, here's a short video of the first shot from the rifle. I was shooting approx. 45yds with 70gr of 2F Goex, .490 prb with a .015 patch. Mostly enjoying the day and just shooting so, didn't do any real sighting in. At the yardage I was shooting, I was hitting center but, about 2 1/2" low. I'll fine tune on my next outing.

I missed my chance the other day when it was warm. I will bet that seven year old will remember more about that day than he would had he been in school. Probably a more practical lesson also. I sure wish I could so shooting with my dad, but those days are gone. Shooting with my son and Grand son works too.

It was a really fun day to be with him. He is quite the chatter box though! :shake:

After I did my shooting, we had some good training and gun safety lessons shooting his pump pellet pistol. I am hoping to get him his first .22 come this time next year.

It is at that! I have a 13yr old step son also and he likes to go shooting too. But, my 7yr old will be the one to come and take his old man to the woods when I'm getting long in the tooth! He really loves being in the woods than anywhere else.

I don't think the winds we had here in North East Texas (25 MPH) were good to shoot in except it does give one an excuse. I'm glad you had a good day!

Good to hear you got some shooting in. Here in southwestern Pennsylvania today wasn't a good day to shoot at all. It rained all day and when it finally quit it started snowing and got very windy and cold. The temperature was in the mid 20's but with the wind it felt a lot colder. :cursing:

Bravo! Great start for the young man's muzzleloading education! Loved the kibitzing he was doing..."BOOM! Now what?" How super is that? Breaking in another generation of muzzleloaders! Fantastic!!

I had a real good day last week. Stopped off and it was neither cold nor hot and no wind. Also slightly overcast. That's rare around here, the no wind part got to try out a new to me gun but unfortunately I couldn't stay long because I had to get to work. It was my first time out in awhile too and I will be out more this year.

Way to go!! It's hard to get that grin off your face isn't it.
I think the harder task still will be go get the grin off of the youngster's face, but then who would want to.
