Speaking of the notorious Sandbar Fight, at least one of the "several participants" had a "shortened sword" made from a broken military saber, according to a period New Orleans newspaper. - What it looked like is unknown.
(The newspaper is in the collection of Dillard University in New Orleans.)

I like the knife, I like the bone, I like the shape of the handle. Looks good, nice work.
The whole thing is overall appealing to me. I don’t use a big knife but they are neat.


In the jungle long ago and faraway I cared a knife across my back like the picture.
More like a small of the back pistol holster on an angle.
Not a real big knife. A Puma sea hunter.
