Let me say at the onset that I have nothing against reenacting. However, my Brown Bess was purchased to be a working tool, part of my family's effort at acorn farming. Pursuant to that, the accessories for my 'Bess may lack some authenticity, but they are practical. Such is my current project. I wanted a cartridge box for my 'Bess, but a period-correct version would run me $120. I made mine for $15.

I like it! I made my first ca'tridge box out of an old binocular case with a 4x4 drilled out block holding the cartridges. Fully functional and the deer and antelope seemed not to care either way. (of course I'm never going to be a reenactor with it)
