Here are a couple of projects I recently finished. The tinder horn was a leftover from making a small powder horn. It's my first attempt at scrimshaw. That's a homemade fire striker too, made out of part of the spring part of a big commercial plumber’s snake that snapped while they were using it to attempt, unsuccessfully, to unclog a drain without having to get a backhoe in and dig up the yard. Hey! I had nothin' else to do with $2000, right? (My brown bess money! I'll have to wait a bit longer I guess. )
The knife I purposely made looking a bit rough. It's my 4th attempt at the same knife, but the first one that I was reasonably pleased with and that didn't snap. (I think I got the heat treating thing a little bit more under control now, thanks to everyone for the advice! ) It's sharper than it looks like it would be, it can shave the hair off the back of my arm.
