My curiosity, what are the 1 & 2 numbers meant for on the grips? Just to signify a matched pair or possible for dueling purposes?Yours are in much better shape. Mine are from the same time period, circa 1840 and made in Augsberg, Germany by Johannes Mond, with cannon type ends on the barrels. They are also numbered 1 & 2, circa 1840. 1 has more wear and tear, so probably it was the daily carry gun. Similar architecture... Also a matching SXS Shotgun in damascus.
