Not much for arguing via text, but if you've hunted very much, you've seen animals do all kinds of strange, unpredictable things.

They don't and won't act axactly as expected in some scripted predicted way. If the story bothers you, move along to another post. You weren't there so you have no facts with which to challenge.

Unfortunately there popped in someone who seems to have a load of wet towels to throw around this forum. It appears that “someone” simply enjoys confrontation and insulting forum members. People like this frankly add nothing positive. Grumpy old men are happy cheerleaders in comparison.

I liked your story. And congratulations on your fox. I hope to read more of your adventures. And I agree that animals do strange things sometimes. I missed a fox with my longbow. He stopped, looked around trying to figure out what happened. And trotted back the way he came. He didn’t bolt out of there like his butt was on fire.

Aye,exactly. Speaking to a bunch of hunting mates over here,including one who's a very skilled wild dog hunter,and they've ALL had similar experiences happen with all manner of game. I've rather ashamedly had multiple shots at fox with a bow before and not had it bolt till I went out to retrieve my arrows lol.

Thank you. Hopefully I can fill in the gap left by that esteemed gentleman. Actually part of the reason I posted. And I was also partially expecting old Feltwad to raise his head,seeing as I've made no secret of liking Britsmoothy and his posts ( didn't always agree with him,but thats life )

Once had a big coyote who wouldn't go away. I didn't want to shoot and scare any potential deer away but after finally standing up and waving my arms at him while cussing him out he started slowly advancing towards me. At about 50 feet, I wound up shooting him.
