I'm somewhat taken aback by the lack of a Lee round ball mold for a .69 musket. I load from the cartridge meaning that my round balls are usually .05-.-06 smaller than the bore itself to allow for the added thickness of the paper.
So in the case of .69 Springfield, I cannot find a .65-.66 mold.
I hope someone here can direct me to a mold of at least .64 in diameter.

.662" Lyman is in stock at Track of The Wolf. .648" was a common size, but you might have to watch the auction sites to find one.

I'm seriously considering a round ball barrel about half way between .62 and .69 for the 1816 flinter...

I use a .648 bag mold from Larry Callahan. He can make any size you want.

This may be a little late but I have a 69 cal.
Lyman mold I use with paper wrap for my 75 cal
musket. I have a lyman 69 cal mini mold that I don't
use for anything just to show off once in a great
while to non BP shooters.

Why would you deliberately choose an odd ball (no pun intended  ) size?
I have a weirdo undersized 20 ga. barrel and had to get a special made mold from Jeff Tanner in order to shoot balls from it.

The only source I know of for an 1816 barrel is Dan Whitacre, and he'll only do it in .69 cal. and may have to be talked into it.
Maybe Bob Hoyt, but I'm not sure. The other option, if you want something smaller than .69 would be to have your barrel relined.

Doesn't that .662 sound just peachy?

Meanwhile, yesterday molded up some 68569 minies for the two bander.
The blocks have been modified to be big enough diameter for the Armisport with the .696" bore diameter, now the slugs are too big. Aint it always something?

Heavy sigh.
Ordered a .695" diameter sizer from S&S.
Paper patch is fun but I want to try chunking those lubed lead madminton birdies.
:haha:
