I have a modest, though sufficient, stash of Goex & Grafs that I ordered about a year before things started going crazy. I won't post what the prices were but I'll just say I hit it perfectly.
I bought some Grafs during that time and I think I gave $15 or so a pound.

Was curious, just checked Graf site. Price hasn’t changed since my last order. Graf brand $22.39, Schuetzen $23.29, Swiss $30.99 and all, 2F, 3F, etc was in stock. Of course prices don’t reflect hazmat & shipping.

I think government contracts will eat up a lot of it. If not most. I’m not optimistic about the situation. It seems our government has a habit of huge contracts with munitions producers to keep as much of it out of private hands as possible….
It probably has more to do with the war in Ukraine and the fact that there has been no domestic production for a while. Lots of military stuff uses black powder as ignition charges and we've been sending our stockpiles of old obsolete stuff over there so that domestic producers can replace it with new and improved stuff. Add in the inflation we've seen recently, particularly with labor (apparently Goex doesn't pay a premium for labor, so they have to compete with fast food wages which have soared to $15 and hour or more) and it would be honestly surprising if they didn't raise prices.

I have a feeling that with what has be going on in the news about them in Washington hammering out a deal to keep this country afloat from going under that government Military spending will get the Ax to ,so good by Military BP Contract Hello Consumer Sales, I think Remington Arms said it best the Government can be your best customer or your worst and they have no problem Dumping a deal right in the middle of things and there never to blame and take no heat from it.

I just got this less than an hour ago. Good thing I am well stocked at this point. That expensive powder I bought the last couple of years isn't looking so expensive now!

....AND WE ARE STILL WAITING....
Yes, in case you have not heard, GOEX production date was pushed back again.

GOEX dealers were informed the new projected production date is end of June. If they are able to make this happen, this means they will not start shipping product out to dealers until earliest August. GOEX has also informed us prices will be going up, but they have yet to give us a new price list.

Schuetzen and Swiss containers are here in the US, however their prices have gone up 17% and 22% respectively. This price increase was a surprise to all of us...including the distributor. Current prices listed as of the date of this email DO NOT reflect the 17% & 22% increases.

Maine Powder House current inventory on black powder is very low. I will be working with the Schuetzen/Swiss distributor on a new order, however it will be a limited order due to the anticipation of GOEX getting back in business sometime this fall.

Check the website for details as I will keep that up-to-date for everyone.
I don't understand why the price increase of powder is such a surprise to anyone! Especially since the price of fuel has gone up over 100%, the price of diesel tripled, food prices up anywhere from 20% to 100%+, tires almost doubled, and everything else is skyrocketing.

You're giving them too much credit. Chances are they don't even know what black powder is or that there is a difference between it and smokeless. Hanlon's Razor and all.
they did managed to keep more than 50 pounds out of your hands and forced us to pay $24.50 on “haz mat” fees for products that are safer to handle than most house hold cleaning chemicals! 🤣

Just a heads up, Powder Vally has Schuetzen FFG and FFFG on sale for $19.54 a pound with no minimum purchase ; for anyone needing a few pounds to top off their supplies before the price hike.. HazMat was reasonable at $19.95 too. Just passing it along

Is anyone familiar with Captain Brett Gibbons? He’s a writer of historical books regarding the development and use of the rifle-musket and black powder. He’s also a serving ordinance officer in the US Army.
He says that the US government buys every year a tremendous amount of black powder for artillery shells (duplex loads…the primer ignites the black which ignites the main charge).

If Goex was the only domestic maker of black powder, where is the government sourcing it? I find it hard to believe the mighty US military relies on overseas supplies
