Since it's inception several years ago, Poplar Creek Longrifles has shot at a privately owned shooting facility in Vandalia, Ohio. This winter, we were told we weren't allowed to play there anymore. They are mostly a police and tactical oriented facility and our slow paced action took away from their shoot-fast-and-buy-more-ammo-from-us business plan.

We put on our big boy pants and found a new facility, and nervously hosted our first shoot at our new home, the Mountaintop VFW post between Ludlow Falls and Pleasant Hill Ohio. Our previous place was small and cramped. Eight shooters was about our limit, and 5-6 was a usual turnout.
Saturday we had 16 shooters show up!!!

Of course we were thrilled about the turnout, and all of our problems with an inaugural shoot were because we were just barely prepared for such a crowd, like almost running out of stations at the loading tables and only having 16 target holders.

We shoot on the fourth Saturday of the month, March thru October, sometimes November. If you are in or even near West central Ohio/ East central Indiana, please consider joining us for a shoot. If you like us, join us! Contact me here by private message and I'll get all the details and particulars to you. I hope to meet you there!!!

Glad to hear you found a new home. Keep looking you will find a bigger place in the future. In the meantime have fun!

Well shooting range are hard to come by as people move in closer to what was open land. We had a little shooting range not 2 miles from home. It was called the Peoria Rod & Gun Club, and MCSO shared the property with a police range down the road.

Developer wanted the land to build homes, that was leased to PRGC, so they offered to give the Sheriff some land 40 miles away, build em a new range, and that ended our paradise.
