A Tale of Two Ubertis (Navy)

Added these nice revolvers to my collection over the Summer/Fall. I lean towards the older Italian Colts when I find them. First is an Uberti 1851 Navy made in 1969 (XXIII) and the second is an Uberti 1861 Navy made in 1970 (XXVI). Both are in almost like new condition showing light wear. Not too bad for over 50 years olde.

Interesting how much difference in the frame color-case hardening.

I prefer the Uberti's that are a bit older. I just got back into c&b after growing up with it in the 70's. It. seems to me that the Quality of these newer pistols has certainly gone down.

Yes, I like to call that the "tiger stripe" case colors. Very different from actual 19th Century Colt offerings.

I have zero complaints quality wise on the 2023 47 Walker. Well other than the arbor issue, but then Uberti is the only one offering a 47 Walker. 45D can weigh in on quality vs the original. Hard telling about the original 47s. Reports of cylinder issues but also wrong loading and even (gasp) some thinking that reports were enhanced to allow Walkering away with a perfectly good gun. Darn thing blew up and I threw it away as it was no good.

Good news is you can deal with the short arbor and we get to experience to some degree a real piece of history.
