Hey all. I had to take the Leman to the club today to finish setting the sights, and figured the girls should ride along. We had a good time in the fall woods. I finished up the sighting job, then we took a little walk on the Mountain Man Trail. Popped a couple steel swingers for them to watch. Who knows, I may have to build a couple small bore cappers for them to cut their teeth on.

Looks like good times. Treasure these times with the kids. My 24 year old daughter is a busy nurse with a life of her own and has applied for a job in Alaska and my 18 year old son is in the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. It seems like only yesterday....

Those young ladies look like they are ready for Dad to get those guns ready right now! My 9 year old daughter has great fun with one of my club's .32 cal rifles and my 11 year old has been shooting his own .50 cal carbine for a few years now. Mine get great satisfaction shooting gongs way more than punching paper. Instant feedback and recognition with each hit!

Great pictures. Thanks for sharing. I've never regretted getting my kids involved early in black powder and I cherish the times we spend together doing what we love.

Yes, this time of year is beautiful here in western PA. I personally would prefer living in Colo or Wyo, being a hunter at heart. Not to mention a fur trade junkie. But, I have to admit this is a beautiful time of year to be here. I love the old cabin and other buildings at our club. It's a great place strictly for blackpowder firearms. Shoots once a month and 2 rondys a year. If I ever fall into a sum of money, lol,I'll have a log cabin up in the north central part of the state. A place to go sit on the porch and drink coffee while admiring a nice flinter or two. Take the family squirrel hunting,or maybe for fall turkey. The more they destroy our economy and our way of life, the more I long for the woods and simpler times. The Leman and I are headed out for early doe season this Sat. I need some time in the woods bad.

 Nice pix and story too!

Thanks for sharing  A squirrel rifle for Christmas could be in their future :shocked2:

I also long for the woods and simple times, maybe we all should get together and make a settlement.
