I have several pounds of lead "pucks" made from melted range scrap, mostly from FMJ pistol bullets, lead 22's, etc. . I can scratch the lead with my thumb nail but I still doubt it would test as 100% pure. Is there any issues with using this lead to cast .36 caliber round balls and conicals for a Pietta 1851 Navy ? Is there any wiggle room when it comes to using less than 100% pure lead ? -Thanks

Pure lead is recommended but I've shot several pounds of scavanged range lead cast into .454 round balls in my Uberti 1858 .44 without any sign of problems yet. Maybe i'd recommend pure lead for conicals because the pressure is higher.
