Hey everyone, hope all is well with you. I am a new member here and have looked for this answer, but unsuccessful so far. This may seem trivial, but I am just going to ask anyway.
Where do folks buy accessories for their .32 cal muzzle loaders? It amazes me that you cannot search for 32 cal specifically, to find every accessory ever made for that caliber. I am going from site to site looking for things and they do not carry or list items for a 32. You can find stuff for a .50 cal or larger all day long, but not so with the 32 cal. SO, where do ya'll go to for your accessories for 32 caliber? Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't know of anywhere that lays out accessories by caliber, though the larger ones in particular have pretty comprehensive caliber choices listed for each accessory. Might be a discussion of which end of the cart you tie your horse to, but I'd start with a list of accessories, then go to each and check for calibers. Track of the Wolf has been good to me when searching, but there are others.

Thanks, I'll check that site.

There are only a few necessities needed, unfortunately allot of people waste money on things they will not require. If you have the ability to make your own accoutrements in reality you need not buy anything! However, if making your own accoutrements isn't your thing (which IMO is what makes this hobby unique and meaningful) the other members have laid out the available vendors. One of my favorites for special parts and hard to find items is the Log Cabin Shop in Lodi OH. Being they are local I prefer to use them if I'm in need of something I'm unable to procure myself. Very knowledgeable and friendly folks who are easily approached in person, on the phone or through email.

Welcome aboard, your certainly in the right place.

A ball starter will be a bit difficult to purchase. Probably as well off to make one of your own. Find a large round door knob ball or a simple wood ball at the hobby shop. A 5/16 dowel is almost a bit large at 0.312, but can work if chucked up in a drill and sanded down a bit or use a 1/4" dowel. Get a 32 caliber ramrod tip and epoxy and pin to the end of the starter. Use a short section of the dowel to make the insertion plug. Pin the 5" long dowel to the ball and 90 degrees to the long dowel install (epoxy and pin) a short starter dowel about 1/4" above the ball surface and you have your short starter.

Sometimes you just have to make what you need when those items are hard to find.

October Country has the rod guides, worms/ ball pullers, jags, ramrods, patch pullers, tips. Their short starter is listed as 5/16 for 0.36. The wood one can be sanded down ( but that is a pain) or make one from a 1/4" dowel.

Amen, Bro. For short starters you do not need brass tips. I have made many short starters from scrap. The material is often wood but odd shaped pieces of antler work great also. For the rod I use cut offs from the ramrod. The end is hogged out with a drill the I fire harden with a candle flame. Many of these have lasted decades with regular use. Besides, it is fun to 'do it yerself'.

Easy Peasy.

Traditions makes one with a wooden ball and a brass rod. runs about $9.00
Just type Traditions deluxe ball starter into the Google thingy.

Track of the wolf Would be my first look for anything, but it helps if I know what I'm looking for.

I used to use a Starter. And a Priming horn.
Now i use neither myself. I do not load as tight and have a coned barrel. Wiper runs it right down.
But i have seen that a tight load is more accurate. Minute of skwerl is good enough for me.

You can do a ball starter as above antler or some sort of ball from the hardware store. A handy starter can be made from a 1” dowel or small as a 3/4.
Cut off about 8” or so, about 4” up, cut a notch and start to whittle a rod out of the bottom end. Continue until you have a 4” dowel of a size to near fit your bore. Drill a 3/8 hole in the other end deep enough to hold your charge. Powder measure and short starter all in one.
Thumb a ball in to your bore. Smack with the thick side to get in to bore. Drive down with long end.
You can stain and oil it or paint it with an oil finish. Melted bees wax also seals it well.
