I still have a .50cal Knight MK85, laminated stock, stainless barrel, with matching matte stainless Leupold 3.5x10x50 heavy duplex scope. I haven't used it for several years since getting into sidelocks and flintlocks, and am thinking about selling it.

QUESTION
On the one hand, listing it as a complete package might be appealing to a few people because it's ready to go, but the complete package would have a fairly hefty price tag;

On the other hand, the Knight MK85 rifle and the Leupold scope could be separated and listed individually with respectively lower prices;

Would appreciate your thoughts on the matter...

advertise it as a kit that can be disassembled if interested in sertain items....then you can break it up......................bob

Roundball, unless you need the money or the rack space, I suggest you hold off until next August or September, when meat hunters start thinking about the upcoming NC M-L season. I know some folks who made good buys on M-L's by hunting the pawn shops after the M-L season was over...Hank

Hank, I normally feel the same way, but with free listing of For Sale ADs, and knowing the volume that I'll be listing over the next year or so, I decided I'd toss a few out to see what would happen.

I listed a few this month and was surprised that three rifles have sold immediately (2 TC Hawkens and a Marlin 336/.35Rem)...right at a time when hunting seasons are closing, just before Christmas, with income taxes right around the corner...go figure.

I turned 59 beginning of December, and the phychological impact of "going on 60" got me thinking about a lot of things...not the least of which was the surplus, spare, unused firearms that get accumulated over a lifetime.

Given my interest and commitment to muzzleloaders and mainly flintlocks at that, I decided it was time to accept reality and start getting rid of all the stuff I know I won't be using anymore...it'll be an ongoing process over the next year or so.

I would also say wait until next spring or summer, when there will be more of a market for guns and scopes. But if you want to list them now, I'd list them separately. If someone wants them both, they can buy them both. But if it's advertised as a 'package', many people who can't afford the scope as well as the rifle, or only want one or the other, won't bother to call you. Also, with a big, expensive Leupold like that one, you'll probably get faster results if you also put up ads for it on the 'for sale' boards at your local ranges and gun shops, where more people are into centerfire hunting and long range shooting.
