Is anyone familiar with classicballistx aftermarket replacement cylinders for the Ruger Old Army?
They claim that their cylinders have more capacity than the original cylinders, but they don't say how much more.

Are extra original Ruger cylinders difficult to obtain?

I seem to recall reading elsewhere that they accept ten extra grains of powder. I too have been eyeballing them as well. It would be neat to get an increase in power.

they appear to be well made and maker claims closer tolerances than Ruger holds. I'm thinking seriously about one of 'em. Hogs would get nervous if they knew of a BP shooter a'coming with a ROA loaded w/one of 'em.
love my ROA

I didn't know these even existed!

The article mentions gas cutting on the original cylinder. I didn't know that was possible with BP.

They bore em deeper than a Ruger, thats how they get the extra capacity. My ruger doesnt like max loads all that well so why pay for even more flyers in the group.

I think that the deeper boring is supposed to be for using larger & heavier hunting bullets along with a little more powder capacity for extra range and knockdown power.
Plus, these are supposed to cost less than the Ruger made cylinders.
So that's how folks are supposed to be able to get more for their money! :haha:

I doubt if you'll be able to get one of those cylinders anyway. Classicballistix is/was another incarnation of BigIron Barrels in Ohio but using a Texas PO Box as an address. Last I heard the owner was in jail on numerous charges including firearms offenses.

On another forum, this vendor claimed to have been previously victimized by Big Iron Barrels, and now he's selling on eBay, Gunbroker and on other firearm related forums.
He claims that there is some form of buyers protection when purchasing from him through established auction sites.
I'm curious about how the link between this Classicballistx outfit and Big Iron barrels was discovered & established.
From what I've read that was publically posted on one website, the spokesperson and/or proprietor of Classicballistx named Wisent, seems to be courteous, professional and attempting to deliver a quality product by selling through established auction sites and by using Paypal.
Just where is the connection, however remote, with an established fraud and well known ex-convict and how did you learn about it?
It's also possible that using Paypal to buy or sell such a product as a replacement ROA cylinder is against Paypal rules, but I'm not absolutely certain about that either.
