Take some 400 or finer grit sandpaper and very lightly sand the horn and then use #0000 steel wool and vigorously buff it. This will give it a nice soft sheen. Bee's wax or paste wax and it should be what you are looking for! Note, I didn't say anything about coloring it, so I won't go there!
