Aging a tin cup

If the cup is stainless, you might try heating it, empty (& maybe upside down, so it heats from the inside out) fairly hot and let it cool a few times. That gave stainless cycle headers a mellow golden tone. Kinda pretty-unless you wanted them to stay shiny (they held up well but were never cheap).
 
Just do like we used to do on the farm. Hang it up in the shed and forget where you hung it. Twenty years later when you discover it again, it'll look just right.
