I read on one of these boards about using a commercial airgun barrel to make a black powder muzzleloader. Have any of you tried this method of gun building? And is there an airgun barrel out there that can withstand the pressure of more than 4 grains of FFFg?
 
Can't say I've ever heard of anyone doing that.

I would guess the reasons might be numberous, but the one that comes to mind is caliber.
Fouling is pretty bad in small caliber muzzleloaders so a few shots would IMO keep the shooter from loading without wiping.

Then there's the depth of rifleing issue. Most Airguns have very shallow rifleing. Once again, the fouling issue comes up. The ramrod would be closer to a wire than a ramrod, so it would bend easily.

I think I'll just stick to the .32 cal and larger. Sounds like less work. ::
