It was my pappy in laws birthday. He has always wanted a flintlock to shoot and hang over the matle over his fireplace. He did not know i purchased the blue ridge flintlock. So, my wife and I gave him my new blue ridge flinter. He loved it. he has wanted one for the last 5 years. I still have my traditions caplock kentucky. Maybe i was stupid but his expertise on building houses save my wife and i $$$ on building our house on 80 acres of prime northern wisc grouse and deer and bear hunting real estate. i am wondering if ,in fact, i am stupid    :haha: :haha:

No,definately now. I would say it was an appropriate gesture of "Thanks", for the $ he saved you. Plus I feel quite sure he saved you much more than the cost of a Blue Ridge. Right ?

Nice gesture.....

I also forgot to mention the land was a gift for marrying his daughter. I knew there was some reason i married her :winking: :haha: :haha:

Good guns come and good guns go, good women with good in-laws are hard to come by.

But then....some of my guns did outlast my ex-wife..no we won't go there. Let's keep this on a positive note.

Look at it this way, you are now justified to start saving the coins for a new rifle, perhaps one a step up from what you gave dear old dad. You deserve it! You need it! Right minded people everywhere think you should have it!

Longshot,
You can always bring up the subject of borrowing the Blue Ridge. You might get to play with it just as much.
God bless.

No act of love, gratitude or thanks is ever stupid. Shame on you for thinking so. The only thing wrong is your thoughts of regret. I'm not trying to be hateful but the man gave you his daughter, she came with an 80 acre dowery, he helped you build your home, saved you lots of money.......a rifle he's always wanted seems a pittance compared to what you received. I don't mean to sound like Dr. Laura, but.....

Ah, ya done good leadball now go buy another one just like it and take him hunting on that 80 acres this fall. Just think how good it'll be when you both get your deer. The chance to make memories like that don't come along everyday. :)

If he has more than one son-in-law, I bet you just shot up into the favorite spot... :winking: :haha:

You did good, father-in-laws are hard to please to begin with...
