So, I've been doing some research on the web about this American Pioneer Powder, but I wanted to get some opinions here regarding it.

I've heard good an bad things, has anyone here had success/no success using in it traditional sidelocks?

Thanks for the feedback. Our Gander Mtn. is having a special, so I'll probably try some out just to see how it shoots.

It would be rather nice to have to swab my bore every 5 shots.

i wandered off the true path and tried AP and T7 powders. triple 7 was ok but erratic in my flinter. AP was worse and it turned into a lump in the container. i went back to goex. your results may vary, give it a try.

I tried it in my muzzleloaders and it wouldn't work in any of them. My impression is that it is designed to work only in inlines.

Somebody I know tried it and it didn't work...couldn't give it away :shake: . He just dumped it and had a bang, if you know what I mean :rotf: . Now he never strays from Goex FFFg and doesn't get anymore of them thar missfires either :winking: . Dave

Not in the mood to type...figure this would sufice! I fired 60 odds rounds that day before having to wipe teh rifle down becasue it was so slick from lube.

I bought 2 lbs of it.......

Used it with My ugly japenese trade gun flinter last winter.Unrelyable but it did get ignition.

Would NEVER use it in my lovly bess,

The fouling was HARD "10 rounds" like burnt plastic.

I have a bunch left , makes a good tester for locks, and is kinda fun in home made fireworks on Canada day ..... good for little else

Stick with the good "real" stuff

Around here it is pretty popular. Have not tried it in a traditional rifle. There were some problems with this powder, but I'm told they have fixed the problems now. Know a number of guys using it in other than traditional rifles and all claim to like it. Around here it is pretty much a toss up between Tripple Seven and American Pioneer powder. I do know one thing, and that is the plastic powder tubes that American Pioneer puts their premeasured powder in are great. Got eight of them from a guy at the range and I really like them to put my premeasured hunting loads in. I've looked at all the other speed loaders and ect for putting premeasured loads in. Trust me, the American Pioneer tubes are the best. Wish I had gotten more of them. May end up buying a can just for the tubes.
