IF you've ever wondered how Hostess Cakes (and pastries) came up with the half-moon shape of the Hostess fruit pie, well...., they are approximations of an Amish Fry Pie.

Here is a quick video of Lovina Hershberger, a young adult woman who has departed the Amish life, hence the fact she can make videos and use electric appliances for cooking. She does wear her Amish garb though, when cooking.

She appears to be blind because she constantly stares at the camera, but no, she's looking at the camera monitor which is adjacent to the camera lens as she records, she sees well.

Not sure how easy they would be for camp, but I think they'd work using a Dutch Oven for frying

I've been following her on Instagram, she's awesome. I plan to get both her cookbook and home remedies book at some point.

She blows my mind how she stares at the camera/monitor and slices and pours stuff without looking away "from her audience."

So I figured out what she's doing, and why it has a unique, quirky, and thus entertaining presentation.

She is looking at her phone/camera as she records, and doesn't look away because she can see what she's doing as she looks at the phone AND also wants to be sure she's recording the right images (notice she never does a top down shot of what's in the bowl) PLUS she's "editing in the can" so to speak, which means she's not shooting different parts of the recipe and then editing them together, she just records, and if she needs to give the dish time, she stops, waits, then starts up the recording again when it's time.
