Anyone here bought anything from a seller on GB and other second hand websites called "AncestryGunsLLC"? has a pretty cool collection, Lots of civil war period firearms in nice condition, they're just out of my budget, but Is he legit?

They are legit... they do seem to buy up everything good and resell them, thus having higher prices than most. Pictures are often dark and fuzzy which makes it difficult to detect flaws or other issues. As with everything you should closely scrutinize any replacement parts that may have been used

just my opinion of course... :)

It's honestly been hard. Im jsut a newbie to all this, and I Can't even find a 3 band musket so I can reenact properly
They are pricey.

And if you shop around you will find arms just as nice for a better price.

As far as 3 band percussions for Civil War reenacting, there is usually 1-2 a week for sale. this forum in the classifieds. Which to the best of my knowledge seem like quality arms sold by reputable people.

Good luck.

Keep scouring the inter web , look at every antique gun site you can find. One will appear at a good price.

Agree. The same can be said for what you see on GB too. It seems that's become the "go to" place (of the gun auction web sites) to get top dollar. I seldom buy things there, because there are so many fraudsters that seem to be sellers there.

Rock Island and Morphys is even higher (the buyer's premium and their exorbitant shipping and handling charges make for that) , but if you have (or want) a very rare item, (like a 1 of 1000 Winchester) those are the places to look, because of their reputations for making sure things aren't faked. You probably won't get a "deal", but you'll get a legitimate piece. In the collecting world (aka-caveat Emptor) , the seller's reputation is everything.
