Another breech plug question

Hi All,

I am currently installing a breech plug in a 1

How deep is the plug?
Inquiring minds, you know?
It has been said here that GM plugs are never more than 5/8" deep.

Hi Terry,

The breech plug was 5/8". I machined it down to just over 1/2" in order that the lock lines up properly. I left enough over the 1/2" to hand file it down for a proper fit.

I also machined the barrel down to so that the threads are roughly 1/2" deep. They were 5/8".

the plug should seat completely , evenly and solid all the way around the face ,,, chaffer to chaffer . Use your inletting black to make sure the fit
