After seeing the expert responses to the other shotgun id post, I thought I'd ask you guys for any information you may have on this one.
Gun is 16 gauge cyl bore. No name anywhere that I can see.
Thanks in advance.

Birmingham-made export quality gun, probably from just before or just after the Civil War.

We know its a back action lock percussion. From the proof marks you provided the gun is English with Birmingham proof marks. proofed at Birmingham.
The year? somewhere in the 1850-65 .
Hope that helps some.
Twice.

And I will bet my socks that its been restocked and refinished in the last 10 years.
Probably not restocked, but refinished for sure. That pewter nose cap is a later addition too.

When I got the gun it had a yellowed, heavy shellac finish that looked like it was applied with a broom, complete with bristles. I carefully removed it with ultra fine steel wool. The finish I got down to is in good shape and has been there for quite a while from what I can tell.
