My oldest daughter (20) went to the range with me yesterday. After shooting a flintlock for the first time she switched to a Ruger .22 auto. Meanwhile I decided it was time to get off the sandbags and practice offhand. Taking advice from all the 'Forum members shooting tips, I used a light load and shot at 25 yards. While there's definite room for improvement, I found that I was doing a better job of "holding through" the flash.
A Boy Scout troop was visiting the range. Noticing several watching closely as I was loading each shot, I offered the Scout Master a turn. After he fired the .54, a boy scout mom fired several shots and then several boys. Everyone hit the target and it was quite fun sharing the flinter with others.
