Just got this done, or mostly done anyway. I have to put a vent liner in it and antique those bright exterior screws on the lock.
Cherry stock , Davis english lock, colerain 44" 20 ga barrel. Home made sideplate and sheet brass buttplate. Trigger guard is from RE davis too.
There is both silver and brass wire in this gun. just under 4' of brass and right at 3' silver. The brass wire inlay has been treated as if it were a border for relief carving, the background has been removed on one side just as in regular relief carving. I saw Mark Silver do a gun this way last year, real cool stuff, and really makes the wire catch the light. The relief really doesn't show up well in the pictures, but makes a dramatic effect in person.( He's probably out in the garage kicking his dog right now screaming "That Brooks has ripped off my cool ideas again!") Mark's execution of this technique far surpasses my ability. It's quite time consuming as well. Every time your tool edge touches that wire it's time to resharpen.
This gun was in me and just had to come out, so I took the time and just built it. You'll notice I antiqued it just a bit.
