I took my 13 year old daughter out to the range this afternoon so she could try out her new left hand .50 cal CVA Hawken. She had never shot BP before so I just wanted her to get used to the rifle. I had her load 40 grains of FF Goex and shoot a target at 50 yards. We were not worried about accuracy yet. Well she loved it! She said that the Hawken is the funnest rifle she has ever shot. Not only that but the CVA shoots pretty good too. Without bench sighting in the rifle she was hitting the target with a grouping of 4 inches from center. Well we got another one hooked. And when she gets comfortable with it, she's going to give some real competition with the Young Adults at our muzzleloader club.

Thanks Rod, I'm glad too. She always seemed kinda hohum about it, but I knew that once she tried it she would be hooked. :)

Well, you guys should have some good times shooting together. Nice to have a shooting partner, especially a son or daughter.

I told Pat that he and Jake better watch out. They have had it easy, taking either first or second place everytime they show up. Now with Sarah shooting, theys gonna have to work for the ribbon.

Scott: That's great you spending time like that. You'll have great memories in years to come.
I hope your daughter wins some ribbons at the local shoot, but you also deserve one for being a good dad.

cool! always glad to her that the tradition will stay alive with future generations. :)

Scott, congratulations on convincing your daughter to make smoke. I'm glad she liked it :) . Now who gets to clean the smokepole? Of course Dad gets the honor! That's O-K! Got my son hooked on shooting when he was just 4. Only guns he cleans are the BP guns I bought him...now he's 17 and in the BP League with Dad.

Do I see a shooting oriented Easter present next to the basket? Keep up the good work & all the best, Dave

When we got back, my daughter got a lesson on cleaning the rifle. She understands that it is her responsibility. :)

My Eagle Scout and I are going to the BP League competition this Sunday morning...can't wait for a little Father & Son time :). Can't wait to smell the SMOKE :) . I think I'm addicted to the stuff :shocked2: :rotf: :haha: . All the best and again congrats & enjoy the company, Dave

Dave, looks like you're a good Dad yourself. Have fun with your Eagle Scout and make smoke!
