It has been a while since I made ball starters. There is a historical prominence for this style that I have noted before. This one is maple with a 3/8” (.375) brass rod. It works best with .45 and larger bores. There is a tapped 10-32 hole so that if you want to screw in a larger (or smaller) jag, you can.

Yeah, these are nice. I bought one last year and I like it so much better than the ones with an actual ball or t handle end.
