Another Texan

Hello all,
Yet another Texas enters the discussion, this one in the Lubbock area. Currently shoot a 1851 Colt Navy, .36, but have just about accumulated enough funds to acquire a longer gun. Am leaning towards a Traditions Crockett .32, as I've been going through the discussion boards here and have heard nothing but good about them. If prairie dogs aren't an endangered species, they soon will be.

What you have heard about the " Traditions
.32 Crockett" i have found to be true.From 30yards in i don't think there is a more accurate weapon,at least with my eye-sight. young eyes might extend that range to 50 yards but at 50yds i would sure like to see consistent head shots!!!!!!!!!

I don't think all the powder & all the lead will put the "prairie dog" on the " endangered species list".

we as hunters,shooters and sportsman are the
endandered species not the "prairie dog" :imo:. it is
very important that all legal gun owners understand
that we are the endangerd species :sorry: for GOT

Welcome Jack Rabbit this is real good site.I was raised in Lubbock but we moved up to Montana after the tornada in the 70s.We had a ranche down around Odonnell,we had a prairie dog town about 30 acres the land was no good because of them,i shot 100s of them.I think you need something in 45 cal. to get a little more range. :m2c:

Welcome, from a half Texan. If you get that gun an start working on the prairie dogs, it may take some time to make them as scarce as our Kansas jackalopes. Of course, you can market them to the tourists as Texas mice or cook them into prarie dog jerky!

Although I haven't been to Lubbock, I hear about it all the time. (I work for the same company that owns the Lubbock newspaper)

Keep us posted on the prarie dog kill count! Maybe you can suggest some appropriate prairie dog camp recipies to the Red Hair Wench!

Greetings from west of Mobeetie, NE of you. lived in lubbock off and on a lot, early 60's, early 70's, late 80's early 90's & then again mid-90's. Sure has grown. Used to shoot prarie dogs north of town, it's all subdivisions. small tract housing, etc now.
